Mary Ann Mavrinac
Haochen Zeng (’23) is an XR Specialist for Studio X. He is a current e5 student majoring in business analytics and computer science. He is a research assistant at the HCI lab, and the vice-president of the Outing Club. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, gaming, reading maps, and developing mobile apps and games. He’s current working on improving his skills in GeoGuessr.
Noah Viso is a student at the University of Rochester majoring in Computer Science and graduating class of 2023. Currently, he is involved in a research team at the University focused on spatial-temporal data analysis. Being a former Finance major, Noah is interested in economics, financial technology, and quantitative finance. He is also passionate about XR development and has several personal projects focused on this. Noah is from California and enjoys playing piano and banjo.
Hi, my name is Fin Tran and I’m a junior double majoring in Digital Media & Marketing with a minor in Computer Science. I’m really passionate about visual storytelling through graphic design, digital photography, and filmmaking. I have always viewed extended reality and games as a new medium for me to try telling stories that affect the surrounding community in a more meaningful way. Off work, people will see me dancing (urban and k-pop), drawing, photo shooting, screenwriting, and filming.
Hi! My name is Liz, and I’m a senior studying BCS & Psychology. I’ll be doing a Take5 year in Visual Art Studies since I enjoy photography, filming, and editing. I also love to dance and am a member of Rice Crew here on campus.
Emma Schaale is a student of the University of Rochester (’21) studying game development through the Digital Media Studies and Computer Science programs. She has previously worked as a marketing and design intern for a fitness start-up, and she currently works as the Publicity Manager at the UR Game Dev Club. She is also working on writing her own book about game development and is working on the art and design for a game that will be released Summer 2021.
Nefle Nesli Oruç is a Karp Library Fellow alum and XR Specialist for Studio X. She is a current Take 5 undergraduate student researching European Art & Literature. She supports Studio X by teaching workshops and promoting community engagement events. Outside of Studio X, she works as a developer on an AR project funded by Verizon and as a Digital Media Specialist at the Rettner Media Lab.
Waleed (’23) is a Karp Library Fellow for Studio X. He majors in Business Information Systems and Digital Media Studies. He is the President of the Digital Media Studies Advisory Board (MEDIA) and the Technical Lead for the Google Developer Students Club. He is really passionate about digital literacy and access to emerging technologies for everyone. In his free time, he likes to play video games, learn about new technologies, watch FC Barcelona matches, and explore Rochester. He is currently waiting for the release of Age of Empires 4.
Koshala (’23) is the Marketing Lead for Studio X. She is majors in Digital Media Studies. Previously, she was a biomedical engineering major for two years, was involved with research at the Haptics Lab, and was a member of Society of Women Engineers. She was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in New York. In her free time, she enjoys reading, eating ramen, and hanging out with her friends.
Sebastian Jakymiw ’21 is an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester pursuing a degree in math. He is an Immersive Technologies Developer through the Karp Library Fellowship and is working on developing workshops and software for Studio X.
Samuel is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science who enjoys creating apps and games using Unity Engine. He is an international student from Zimbabwe. His hobbies include playing chess, fishing, hiking, playing video games, and he makes a delicious naan bread.
